Today on Just Peace, in the second week of our summer marathon, we will provide an update on the recent health care legislation with activists Dot Shaw, who just returned from Washington, and Rita Valenti, a Grady nurse who has also been a strong advocate for a universal health care system in America. Dot Shaw visited Senator Saxby Chambliss' office and we look forward to hearing what his legislative team had to say about healthcare reform!

We will be offering special premiums one if which is a gardening class on August 8 at the Truly Living Well Farm in East Point. The 4 hour class will be taught by Rashid Nuri, the founder of the farm.

The class will provide participants with an overview of natural and organic urban agricultural methods. This beginner's course will prepare you for fall planting. The class will cover:

Soil Preparation
Soil Management
Composting
Vermiculture
Crop Management
· Seasonality
· Planting
· Multi-cropping and Plant Diversity
· Companion Planting
· Weed, Insect, Disease Control

This will be a hands-on learning experience conducted at our East Point site. You will leave with new knowledge, a packet of information and some fall seeds.

We recognize that healthcare is also about eating well and getting involved in the production of food if possible and/or supporting locally grown food.

For those of you who are seeking a change in healthcare, please remember WRFG as a media entity that keeps you updated on what's happening nationally and locally on the progressive side of healthcare reform.

We need and appreciate your support and thank you in advance for helping us during our marathons.

Tune in and join the conversation! You can also listen on the web by going to our home page (http://www.wrfg.org/) and clicking on the "Listen Live" icon on the righthand side of the page. For more information about Just Peace, check out http://www.wrfg.org/features/shows/shows-desc.asp?showid=36.
