ITS "GIVE AWAY SUNDAY" AT RED SHOULDER COUNCIL FOR NATIVE AMERICAN ADVOCACY
Siyo Osda Oginalii:
Hello Dear Friends:

Its "Give Away Sunday" at Red Shoulder Council on face book! The following people and organizations can surely use our help this week.

*****TORNADO RELIEF: IF ANYONE IS LIVING ON A RESERVATION WHICH WAS HIT HARD BY THE RECENT SURGE OF TORNADOES, PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY AND I WILL GET A BULLETIN OUT FOR SUPPLIES.*****
------
If you would like to donate food and clothing to a reservation in your state, please go to http://www.facebook.com/l/2b43e;Indians.Org and pick one. There are many reservations that are poverty stricken and would appreciate gifts from the heart. Please send articles that are like new or new. Our people need to feel loved and respected. It can be most difficult to be on the receiving end of donations. Please bear this in mind when choosing articles to send. There is an extensive list on RSC's discussion board.
--------
Mr. Duane Martin, Sr. laid his wife to rest last week. She was given some medication in an injection and passed away immediately. Mr. Martin has 5 children. They are grief stricken. The funeral expenses, over $1800.00, left him bankrupt as his yearly income is less than $9,000. He tried to put his reservation home on the market, but no realtor would help him.

Although it is our policy not to solicit for monetary donations, I cannot stop you if you would like to do so.
Mr. Duane Martin, Sr.

Healing Circle

Cedar Rapids, IA 52402-5025
Attn: John Miller (319)364-1122

This is a new half-way house for Native Americans and their families trying to make a new start after drug/alcohol or prison rehabilitation. John is doing a phenomenal job as these apartments can hold entire families safely and comfortably.

You can check our Discussion Board for a list of non-perishable food, clothing, articles, books, household items, etc. that are needed.

Also needed are channupa herbs: sweetgrass, sage, cedar, bear root, red willow bark and wood for lighting so that their members may practice our ceremonial prayers.

You can send packages via parcel post at your local post office. It is much cheaper and the articles will be received within a week.

Mr. Nikolaus Legendre is battling cancer. He wishes to maintain ceremonial prayer and needs the following channupa herbs:
sweet grass, sage, red willow bark, cedar and wood for burning. It would be nice to send a get well card. His address is:
Mr. Nikolaus Legendre
301 E. Rimini Court
Apt. 1-A
Palatine, IL 60067
-------
I, myself, would appreciate a small bundle of sweet grass and white sage with some cedar or red willow bark for my ceremonial prayers. If you have extra on hand and can send me some, I will gladly reimburse you for the postage. I can't see spending $10.00 & 7.00 shipping, for something that should be our right to have for free.
