Albertans Protest Oilsands

Albertans Protest Oilsands

Close to 100 protesters gathered this weekend near the oilsands operations in northern Alberta.

They're hoping to draw attention to what they call "environmental devastation of land and water" in the region.

The protest near Fort McMurray was organized by Keepers of the Athabasca, a group of Aboriginal, Metis, and other communities downstream from the oilsands.

One demonstrator reports the marchers received a dirty look from a passer-by, but there were no confrontations.
