This Thursday is the first day of school for our Sequoyah Schools and
the Cherokee Immersion Charter School; and for most communities,
school will be opening very shortly. Please drive carefully and be
watching for school children as they return to classes from summer
vacation!

Calling all Artists! Remember the deadline for the Cherokee Holiday
Arts Show is coming up. Applications and pictures of your work are due
Friday, Aug 9, 2013. They can be dropped off at the Cherokee Arts
Building in Tahlequah or emailed to marie-smith@cherokee.org

We're getting lots of inquiries about where to stay during Cherokee
National Holiday. Hotels fill up fast! Here is a google list

 of area hotels, lodges, B&Bs, etc. Keep in mind Muskogee is only a

National researchers select Cherokee Nation land to study bats

Georgia to study the habits of bats chose this year to study the
mammals in the Cherokee Nation’s jurisdiction

The Cherokee Nation is traveling to Portland, Ore., and Seattle in
August with the tribe’s mobile registration ID unit to issue
at-large citizens new photo ID Cherokee citizenship cards.

Spider Gallery celebrates official grand opening

The newly expanded and more visible Cherokee Arts Center “Spider
Gallery” is officially open in downtown Tahlequah. A ribbon cutting
for the gallery was held Wednesday at its new location in the Cort
Mall.
