With just nine days until Christmas, the Cherokee Nation is in the holiday spirit. We held a successful open house for the public on December 12 at the W.W. Keeler Complex. More than 200 visitors took photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus and even the Grinch, who made a special guest appearance. Guests were treated to punch and cookies, and more than 50 people registered to vote.
In that same spirit, Cherokee Nation Businesses donated $20,000 to our Angel Tree program to ensure our youngest citizens have a blessed holiday with warm clothes or new toys this Christmas. Our Angel Tree program helps more than 2,000 Cherokee children annually.

Lastly, if you know of a Cherokee elder who may need some financial assistance with his or her heating bill this winter, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is being offered again at the Cherokee Nation. Applications are accepted through Dec. 31. It’s vital that our citizens remain safe and warm during the frigid winter season.
